A CAR was destroyed in a fire on the A38 westbound between Haldon and Harcombe Cross on the evening of May 29.
Two fire engines from Danes Castle and Middlemoor fire stations were called to the incident near Chudleigh shortly after 7pm.
Firefighters used two breathing apparatus sets and a hose reel jet to bring the blaze under control and extinguish the fire.
The cause of the fire was determined to be accidental, with the vehicle suffering 100 per cent fire damage.
Devon & Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said it assists around 650 people each year whose vehicles catch fire.
The service is reminding motorists to carry out regular vehicle checks and ensure servicing and MOTs are kept up to date to reduce the risk of fire.
