Sefton Hall care home in Dawlish is in the running for a second national award this year.
The home has been shortlisted in the Care Team of the Year category at the Caring UK Awards, which recognise excellence and achievement within the care sector.
An awards spokesman said: ‘Never has there been a more appropriate time to recognise the amazing and selfless contribution that our carers make and how they have given so much to protect and care for their residents in the face of unprecedented challenges.’
The awards are organised by Script Events in conjunction with leading care industry magazine Caring UK, with support from headline sponsor Virgin Money.
In each category up to seven finalists have been selected and they will now go through to the next stage of the judging process.
The winners will be revealed at a glittering awards ceremony, hosted by Emmerdale actor Dean Andrews, at The Athena in Leicester on December 2.
The home has already been shortlisted in several categories in the National Care Awards 2021
Sefton Hall manager Gabriela Ogreanu said: ‘It’s a great honour to be considered for this award – our second in just a few months – and wonderful that this is a nomination for the entire team at Sefton Hall.
‘The staff here are truly extraordinary and throughout the pandemic have kept our residents going with their energy and exceptional care.’
In May 2020 during the first lockdown, the home made international headlines when it organised a drive-through to reunite residents with their families and loved ones.
When the Dawlish Carnival was cancelled because of the pandemic, staff organised a special event at the home, with sport, competitions and entertainment.
Sefton Hall was also part of the government’s visiting pilot scheme late last year which made it possible for relatives to enter the home once they had provided a negative lateral flow test.
