A CARGO ship broke her moorings and damaged yachts in Teignmouth Port last night, Wednesday.
A spokesperson for Associated British Ports said today: 'We are aware of the incident that occurred at ABP’s Port of Teignmouth at 19:30Hrs on Wednesday, January 25, where a general cargo vessel apparently broke her mooring lines while berthed alongside, which caused some damage to local yachts.
‘ABP worked closely with Teignmouth Harbour Commissioners who are the statutory harbour authority and utilised the local harbour tug to ensure the vessel was safely brought back to the quayside.’
Coastguards from Dawlish were reportedly called to the River Teign at Teignmouth to help with the incident.
This operation was completed shortly after 9pm.
‘We are working with the relevant authorities to carry out a full investigation of this incident,’ added the spokesperson.
