A cashier was left shaken after fighting off two armed robbers who she claims snatched cash from her till at Dial Motors, Buckfastleigh, on Monday evening, writes Dawn Ellis.

Christine Palmer, 60, was on duty when two young men entered the store.

She says the pair threatened violence and demanded cash. 'I said to them that I couldn't open the till and their response was that they would hurt me,' said Christine, who has worked for the firm for more than 15 years. 'One man then came around to the till and smashed it up and they got to the money. While all this was happening I had to tackle the other one.
