MORE than £1,000 was raised for much-loved charity Dawlish Community Transport at a fund-raising concert.

Dawlish Methodist Church was packed for the event which featured performances from the High Cs community choir and popular shanty group the Back Beach Boyz.

The concert was a sell-out and the charity’s mascot Travelling Ted also made a special guest appearance.

A spokesman for the Back Beach Boyz said: ‘Our thanks to everyone for making us so welcome at Dawlish Methodist Church yesterday for the charity fundraising evening.

’It was a joy to see the whole audience joining in with our songs.

‘We hope it was a successful evening for the fabulous Dawlish Community Transport Group.’

Dawlish Community Transport was devastated when five of its vehicles which are used to provide transport services for residents in Dawlish and the surrounding area were destroyed in an arson attack.
