A south Devon entertainment agency has seen one of its events in Pakistan cancelled this week after the killing of Osama Bin Laden by American military forces on Monday.

Scarlett Entertainment, based in Newton Abbot, is involved in a charity event in Islamabad, which was due to be hosted by the British High Commissioner to Pakistan tomorrow.

The UK is advising against travel to many parts of Pakistan after the death of the Al Qaeda leader.

The agency had arranged for singer Gemma Rose, from Poole, to fly to the country yesterday as part of the evenings entertainment, but the ball – in aid of LRBT (Layton Rahmatulla Benevolent Trust) – has been postponed due to safety fears.

Scarlett Entertainment has confirmed that the event will now take place in October.

Money raised from the charity ball will help to provide free eye care to those living in Pakistan to help prevent blindness among the poor and underprivileged.

Scarlett Entertainment was started two years ago and is based in Devon Square, Newton Abbot.
