A KINGSTEIGNTON care worker is getting ready to take a huge leap of faith this coming weekend as part of a group charity skydive.
Beth Cunningham will take part in a fundraising parachute jump with friends and colleagues from the WESC Foundation charity in Exeter.
Beth, who works at the charity’s St David’s House care home as a support worker, will join with other carers, members of the catering, and friends of the charity for the daring fundraiser on Saturday, October 24.
Together with her colleagues she supports young adults in their 20s and 30s who are blind or partially sighted, and loves every minute of it – even through lockdown’.
She said: ‘The young people I get to work with are so inspirational, and get so much out of life despite the challenges they might face.
‘I get to see first-hand how fundraising supports all the young people at WESC Foundation, and for me doing the jump with the others is a great way to share those stories with friends and family.’
The money raised will help ensure that children and young adults with visual impairment and complex needs can live their best life.
Cameron Merry, WESC Foundation’s fundraiser explained: ‘Our supporters help us to go the extra mile to break down the barriers that are often in place for young adults because of their complex needs or vision impairment.
‘That might be something as simple as helping a teenager who uses a wheelchair because of their Cerebral Palsy develop their core strength in our hydrotherapy pool, or equipping a bathroom with a powered hoist to help them transfer into the bath with dignity.’
