Seven pupils at St Michael's C of E Primary School, Kingsteignton, have really managed to put one in the back of the net as far as their art teacher is concerned. The nine to 11-year-olds, members of the after-school art club, have taken part in a county council project which involved them taking a trip to the home of Exeter City FC, St James Park. They sketched the Nationwide conference professionals at work and now the resulting paintings are to go on display at the ground. 'I think it was one of the most frightening projects they've done as many of the club members are girls and I wasn't sure how they would take to the football theme,' said arts co-ordinator Dawn Kelly. 'However, I think the work is the best they've done, absolutely amazing.' The children are due back at the Exeter stadium on July 22 where their paintings, along with others produced by schools countywide, will be presented to the players and displayed around the ground.
