A DAWLISH businesswoman has launched her annual Christmas fundraiser to help stray dogs find loving homes, following the success of last year’s campaign.
Chrissy Marks, who runs Signature Hair and Beauty, is once again rallying support from businesses in Dawlish and Teignmouth for a Christmas mega raffle in aid of Saving Pound Dogs Cyprus (SPDC).
The charity is a non-profit organisation dedicated to rescuing and rehoming stray dogs, helping them find loving homes in the UK, Cyprus and Germany.
Chrissy has a personal connection to the cause, having adopted a dog - Marley - through SPDC.
‘No one wanted him, due to his age, but he came to live with us and spent five very happy years in retirement in Dawlish’, Chrissy said.
‘Sadly, he passed away in February, all monies raised will go towards helping care for other dogs just like him’, Chrissy added.
This year’s raffle promises to be bigger and better, with 30 prizes donated by local businesses.
Prizes include a case of wine, a free MOT, pub and meal vouchers, a food hamper packed with Christmas goodies, hair and beauty hampers, cream teas, fish and chips vouchers, café vouchers and a bundle from clothing brand Lazy Jacks.
There are also prizes from local shops and attractions, including vouchers for a safari golf experience, a free jet wash, arts and crafts, electrical goods and a towel by artist Laura Wall.
The raffle will be drawn on Christmas Eve by Andy Barton, who has also generously offered to make a donation.
Tickets cost just £1 each and are available from Signature Hair and Beauty. Anyone wanting further information can also contact Chrissy by emailing [email protected].
Chrissy is encouraging residents to support the fundraiser, with every ticket helping to raise much-needed money for dogs in need.
