RESIDENTS in Chudleigh will be able to stay in good shape as a new outdoor gym is heading to the town.

The town council has agreed to build a £17,500 facility near the play park at Millstream Meadow.

It is hoped the gym, which is being funded by Cavanna Homes, will be built during the summer.

A town council spokesman said: ‘The gym will give residents of all ages the opportunity to exercise for free.

‘It is being paid for from the last of the funding provided by Cavanna Homes for the maintenance and development of the open spaces at Culver Green and Millstream Meadow.

‘These funds had to be spent or returned by the end of this year so this is an opportune time to undertake this project.’

District and town councillor Doug Hellier Laing said: ‘A lot of thought has been put into exactly what should go into the outdoor gym.

‘Anything that helps members of the community adopt a health lifestyle can only be applauded.

‘Making it fun and usable by all age groups is doubly beneficial.’
