CHILDREN from Newton Abbot's Haytor View Primary School were given the red carpet treatment on Wednesday when their film about the Buckland Estate premiered at the Alexandra Cinema.

The town centre venue was packed twice over for the 35-minute Our Buckland Our Film, a documentary which featured the lives and times of the development, which began taking shape in 1947.

Thanks to a £10,000 Heritage Lottery grant, and support from the Newton Abbot Community Interest Company and Sure Start, the school was given state of the art iPod cameras and the children taught how to edit the footage they shot.
