A LARGE section of cliff has fallen from The Ness at Shaldon.

Witnesses describe seeing a ‘huge scar’ now left on the red stone cliff.

A tree was first to go followed by a section of the cliff which went with it.

It has been reported there was a previous smaller fall a few weeks ago.

Teams from Teignbridge Council have been out to inspect the area.

A council spokesman said: ‘We are aware of a significant cliff fall today at The Ness, Shaldon.

‘Our teams are currently inspecting the area and installing warning signage and fencing for areas that have been closed for safety reasons.

‘We will share further updates soon, but please follow all signage and stay out of any areas which have been closed for your own safety.’
