BATTERED Buckfastleigh was under the cosh this week as it drew up plans to save yet another one of its threatened community facilities, the leaking swimming pool.

The town's run of bad luck has seen a string of services buckle under the strain of budget cuts and escalating running costs over the last few months. Latest in the line of casualties is the skate park, next to the ageing pool in Victoria Park, which this week was cordoned off after its middle section was taken away for repairs.
