A TEIGNMOUTH theatrical group's invaluable costume collection could fall in to ruins if new premises cannot be found for them soon.

Shaldon theatre company is desperate for new storage facilities for costumes, some of which date back 30 years.

The collection of more than 300 irreplaceable hand-made items could quickly get moth-eaten if new premises aren't quickly found.

The costumes are housed in a rented lock-up garage in Teignmouth but that has been put on the market.

Now the company urgently needs to sort out an alternative site.

Company chairman Mary Froom, was hoping a local Good Samaritan could come to the rescue.

She said: 'We really are in a desperate situation. Our huge range of costumes are irreplaceable and valuable. And if we are unable to find a suitable home for them they will start to disintegrate.

'Many hours of effort have gone in to the creation of the costumes. Not to mention the emotional attachment people have to them.

'We have acquired some costumes as well over the years so there is quite a collection

'We only moved in to our present premises a year ago. They were ideal and now we have to vacate. Before this the collection was kept in people's homes. But that wasn't convenient at all.

'It helps to have them all in the same place.'

'If anyone is looking to let a garage or similar store in the Teignmouth area we would love to hear from them.'
