A PETROL station in Teignmouth could be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week if it is deemed lawful.

Applicant Motor Fuel Group has proposed to extend the opening hours of the Morrisons Petrol Station off Newfoundland Road to 24 hours.

The application - reference 26/00487/CLDP - is seeking to obtain a Certificate of Lawfulness from Teignbridge Council.

A Certificate of Lawfulness is a formal decision issued by a planning authority confirming that a proposed development would be lawful without the need for planning permission.

So, if Teignbridge Council were to grant the certificate, the petrol station, which currently opens everyday from 6am to 10pm, could operate 24 hours a day.

Teignbridge Council are expected to make a decision by May 14.
