A story in last week's Advertiser has prompted a U-turn by Teignbridge Council on plans to borrow cash to finance a land deal.

And leader Cllr Jeremy Christophers, a Conservative, pictured left – who announced the change yesterday – revealed there will be a probe into leaked information to this paper.

The council's former leader, Lib Dem Cllr Alan Connett, last week criticised the Tories for coming up with the scheme, claiming it would plunge the council back into the red.
