PASSENGER numbers from Teignmouth railway station have soared in the past decade. The big increase has given local councillors the ammunition to demand an improved train service for the town. In the year 2010-2011, more than half-a-million people used the station, compared with 286,471 in 2002-2003. The figures were obtained from the Office of Rail Regulation by Cllr June Green, who said the increase was one of the biggest in the country.
