The district's oldest serving councillor remains critically ill in hospital after apparently being run over by his own tractor.

Vic Elliott, 87, who farms at Ipplepen, received multiple injuries in the accident which happened near Orley Road on June 28.

It is thought Cllr Elliott, who has served as district councillor for the village since 1991, may have left the cab to attend to equipment attached to the rear and was then crushed by the machine when it unexpectedly rolled backwards.
