CLLR Rosalind Prowse has urged Dawlish Town Council members to back her proposals for a play park at the Warren to be pursued as one of the next regeneration projects.

At last Thursday's executive committee, members discussed which projects they would like to push during the financial year 2011-12.

Cllr Prowse suggested that, along with a Lawn pavilion, a play area at the Warren should be pursued.

She commented: 'We need two major projects when we go forward for major finance. The Lawn pavilion is a natural big project and will follow on from the regeneration of the Strand.

'But this is about the parish of Dawlish, not just the town centre. It's regeneration for the whole of the town.

'I'm committed to Dawlish Warren – the Warren needs a play area.

'We're always getting told how wonderful Teignmouth's is.

'Can I have the backing for a Lawn pavilion and play area?'

Cllr Pauline Bloomfield said: 'I fully support the Warren – there are things down there which are an eyesore.

'I'm all for the pavilion as well but I think we should hold back until the plans for the Strand are sorted.'

While Cllr Humphrey Clemens said that a pavilion was 'essential', he did not believe a play park should need to be within the regeneration plans.

He said: 'I think Teignbridge should do the play park themselves – they've done it everywhere else.'

Mayor Cllr Helen Humphries suggested the town council's Teignbridge councillors continue to 'push' the district authority.
