Devon Wildlife Trust has failed to overturn planning permission for 230 homes in Chudleigh it feared would threaten a group of a group of nearby greater horseshoe bats.

The charity had launched a judicial review of the decision by Teignbridge Council saying that a third of the country’s remaining 6,500 greater horseshoe bats, all protected by law, lived at 11 roosts in Devon including the one at Chudleigh.
