Tennis courts in Newton Abbot have been padlocked after safety fears were sparked by a player who slipped on 'unsafe' markings.Contractors have been ordered to repaint the lines at Forde Park after a sportsman warned Teignbridge Council that his fall was unlikely to be the last unless action was taken.The facilities were refurbished last year at a cost thought to be in the region of £29,000, a figure Teignbridge has now said was actually £16,000 and funded through planning charges imposed on developers.
