GREAT Western Railway has prosecuted a woman from Exeter for using a train at Starcross without paying. 

Carmelo Striani, 22, of Frog Street, was accused of travelling on the train on June 12 without having paid the fare of £14.75 and with intent to avoid payment.

Magistrates sitting at south and west Devon court found Striani guilty in her absence.

She was fined £220 and ordered to pay compensation of £14.75, a surcharge to victim services of £88 and costs of £180.
