A TEENAGER, who formerly lived in Newton Abbot, has admitted having a knife and a hammer and carrying out a series of offences against a family in South Devon.
Elliott Caruana, aged 19, of Belfield Avenue, Marldon, pleaded guilty to seven offences when he appeared at Exeter Crown Court, including attacking a neighbour with a hammer.
He admitted assaulting Julian Wood, damaging a window at his home, and harassing Ysanne Wood by making phone calls which threatened violence.
He also admitted attempting to cause grievous bodily harm with intent to John Wright in a hammer attack on the same day and having a hammer and a knife as weapons in Condor Drive, Torquay.
He admitted personal possession of 0.2 grams of cannabis. All the offences took place in South Devon on April 17 this year.
Judge Geoffrey Mercer, QC, remanded him in custody and ordered a probation pre-sentence report. He said: ‘This was a day when you went completely out of control.’
He said the most serious offence was the hammer attack on Mr Wright and would set the tariff for the overall sentence. He suffered a bruise on his head and a small cut to his arm during the incident last month.
