MAGISTRATES have fined a Buckfastleigh man for shoplifting at Marks and Spencer and making off without paying for petrol.

Daniel Lock, 35, of Market Close, pleaded guilty to both charges when he appeared in court.

He admitted stealing £28.40 worth of food from Marks and Spencer in Honiton on April 6 2022.

He took a Best Ever prawn sandwich, Best Ever sausage roll, Marmite bites, deli dried bacon, mixer can, a small bottle of red wine and two small bottles of Spanish red wine.

On the same date, also at Honiton, he dishonestly made off from a petrol station without making payment of £67.14 for 41.47 litres of petrol.

Lock was fined £446 and ordered to pay compensation of £28.40 for the food and £67.14 for the fuel.

He was further ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £47 and costs of £85.
