The man found dead at the scene of a single vehicle collision near Ashburton last month has been officially named.
An inquest into the death of 32-year-old Jake Griffiths was opened last Thursday (February 5).
Area coroner Deborah Archer said the landscape gardener had been found by a farmworker in a field at Gages Farm on Tuesday January 27.
He was found next to a Green Suburu Legacy Outback that had entered the field and rolled several times.
Devon and Cornwall Police were called to the incident on an unnamed road between Ashburton and Buckfastleigh at 3.45pm on Tuesday January 27. The road was closed for several hours while officers conducted a thorough investigation.
Officers subsequently launched an appeal for witnesses and dashcam footage asking for anybody who had seen the vehicle in the area before the collision or in the days prior to contact them quoting log 555 of January 27.
