A COUNCILLOR is demanding radical improvements to a main road, branded one of the most dangerous in Devon.
There are regular accidents on the B3192 between Teignmouth and Ashcombe Cross on the route to Exeter, and County Cllr Richard Younger-Ross fears they could become more frequent with hundreds of new homes earmarked for the town, meaning more cars.
The narrow and twisting highway was last year named by emergency services as top of the list for shouts.
Cllr Younger-Ross criticised road engineers for only agreeing to make ‘bit by bit’ improvements, and urged anybody involved in, or witnessing accidents, to contact him.
He raised the issue at an area highways and traffic orders committee meeting at Newton Abbot, and expressed concern at the number of accidents on the road, and called for a lower speed restriction.
