A Dartmoor village is making the final preparations ahead of its annual Christmas tree festival that attracts hundreds of visitors.

This year’s Widecombe Christmas Tree Festival theme is ‘Magical, Mythical or Mystical’.

The event takes place in St Pancras Church from Saturday December 13 until Sunday December 21 and is open from 10am until 4:30pm.

More than two dozen trees, decorated by local families, individuals, charities, schools, businesses, clubs and societies, will adorn the nave and aisles of the church known as the ‘Cathedral of the Moor’.

The organisers of the Christmas Tree Festival have nominated Newton Abbot charity Life Chance Trust to benefit from funds raised from the event.

Life Chance Trust, which was recently named as the Stars of Teignbridge Charity of the Year, supports young people who have experienced a challenging start in life to transition to adulthood.
