DAWLISH Town Council has raised no objection to plans to demolish buildings at Langdon Hospital.

Devon Partnership NHS Trust has applied to Teignbridge Council to determine whether prior approval is required for the proposed demolition of the Tamar, Exe, Torridge and Teign buildings.

The buildings are no longer used for healthcare and have been empty and derelict for some time, according to the Trust.

Dawlish Town Council has now considered the proposals and raised no objection to the plans.

If given the go-ahead, a specialist contractor would be appointed to carry out the demolition, with the existing ground-floor slabs left in place.

The remainder of the buildings, along with associated features, would be removed as part of the works.

The application, reference 26/01313/DEM, has been submitted under permitted development rules.

Certain types of development are allowed under national legislation without the need for a full planning application, although some schemes are subject to conditions requiring the local planning authority (Teignbridge) to decide whether prior approval is needed.

Teignbridge Council is expected to make a decision by September 21.
