A YOUNG Teignmouth fisherman perished when his boat was struck by a huge bulk carrier off the French coast.
A big search failed to find any trace of Christopher Wadsworth, 21, of Bitton Park Road, but luckily his three colleagues survived.
The vessel, the 50ft Etoile Des Ondes, quickly sank after the collision and now a big investigation is under way, headed by Teignmouth CID, to find out exactly what went wrong.
The boat is owned by two well known former Teignmouth and Devon rugby players, brothers Rob, 41, and Dave, 47, Simmonds, who said they were 'devastated by the tragedy'.
