FOREIGN BODY is the beautifully crafted debut solo show by Imogen Butler-Cole about hope, healing and forgiveness after sexual assault. Uniquely told from the perspective of the survivor and perpetrator of the same assault, using a charged combination of verbatim and physical theatre, Foreign Body is a brave, liberating, life affirming story.

Imogen Butler-Cole grew up on a farm in the Teign Valley (near Clifford Bridge) attending Maynards and Exeter Schools, and cut her teeth in theatre at the Plymouth Theatre Royal Youth Music Theatre and in A Little Night Music. She left for London to go to drama school at the age of 19.

She has now performed on stages across the world and worked for RADA, Shakespeare’s Globe and the BBC.

The development of Foreign Body has been supported by Arts Council England, Rich Mix and Pleasance London. This work-in-progress version of the show was performed at Off Beat Oxford and The RADA Festival in June.

Foreign Body aims to destigmatise dialogue around sexual violence and will offer opportunities for audience members to explore the play’s themes through post show Q&As alongside representatives of The Forgiveness Project and Rape Crisis.

The performances, at the Bike Shed Theatre, Exeter, are on the evenings of

Tuesday, October 11 and Wednesday, October 12, 8.30pm + Q&A.
