NEWTON Abbot's annual Victorian Evening on Wednesday was one of the most successful yet with thousands enjoying the festive fun in the town. The popular event gives charities the opportunity to set up stalls and raise their own funds, and 47 of them packed into the Market Square and Market Walk. On sale were Christmas items from tree decorations, home-made cakes and buns, jars of pickled onions and chutneys to Christmas cards and bric-a-brac.
