more than 40 diners sat down to a slap up meal, with the finest cutlery, crockery and trimmings expected at a top nosh venue.

A butler lit the table candles and dinner was served – on a tidal island in the middle of the Teign estuary.

It was a bizarre sight as the guests enjoyed the lovely grub while keeping a keen eye on the incoming tide and the dark clouds.

It was another triumph for the folk who specialise in dinner parties in odd places.
