THE Teignmouth Post/ Mid-Devon Advertiser was given an exclusive preview of the new Donald Crowhurst film, The Mercy, by the distributors Studio Canal.

A full review of the long-awaited movie will appear nearer the official release on February 9.

Post reporter John Ware, who reported on Crowhurst setting sail in 1968, and watched the film at the screening theatre in the five-star Soho Hotel in London, said: ‘There are no big surprises because the saga is so well-known by now, but it is a riveting tale with a stunning performance by Colin Firth as the tormented Crowhurst.

‘Definitely worth seeing.’
