HOLLY, an 11-year-old English springer spaniel, was badly injured when she was attacked by a rottweiler in Stover Country Park, near Newton Abbot.
Postman Roy Critchell, of St Michael's Road, Kingsteignton, was taking Holly for a walk between 5.30pm-6pm on Thursday last week on the outskirts of the country park.
'As we were walking along, a lady with the rottweiler was coming in the opposite direction. As they walked past, both dogs sniffed each other and then the rottweiler jumped on top of Holly, who ran away,' said Mr Critchell.
He went after Holly and found she had a long scar and about an inch open wound, but when he went back the woman and her dog had gone.
