Ipplepen residents who took part in a charity rally to the Scandinavian Northern Lights handed over nearly £3,000 to Rowcroft Hospice on Wednesday.
The trip – involving three past-their-best Land Rovers – was held in memory of villager Alison Duncan, who spent her last days in the hospice.
Taking ten days and covering more than 10,000 miles – about 3,500 miles a vehicle, which had each cost £200 to buy – the rally teams had set out from Ipplepen Village Square sponsored by Kitsons solicitors, Coast and Country estate agents and Safeheat, a gas installation company in Torbay. Representatives of those firms knew Alison. Other sponsors included Red Post Garage and the Pavey Group.
