THE Duke of Edinburgh dropped in on Ten Tors at the weekend, making the 50th anniversary event one of the most memorable.
The Duke, who is its patron, arrived by helicopter at 11am and congratulated several teams as they passed the finishing line.
'It really lifted the entire weekend. It was a party atmosphere up to the finish line. Everybody was very excited to see the Duke of Edinburgh and it really did round off what was a very enjoyable weekend for everyone, despite the cold weather,' said an Army spokesman.
A total of 2,400 youngsters conquered fatigue, blisters and chilly weather to complete routes of 35, 45 or 55 miles.
