A cat suffering from cancer and left for dead in a skip has been given a chance of survival by kind-hearted staff and customers at a Kingskerswell kennel, writes Nigel Canham.

Named Polly, she has also been given a loving home by an Abbotskerswell woman.

Polly is thought to be about nine years old and was left in the box, bound up with tape to prevent her escape, in a skip waiting to be collected from the Foredowne Kennel and Cattery, Kingskerswell.

Just hours before bin men were due to call staff at the kennels discovered the cat and took her in for safekeeping.
