Children from Magpies pre-school, Newton Abbot, were joined by Newton Abbot mayor Cllr Carol Bunday and other dignitaries at the weekend to show off the Easter bonnets they had made. The tots paraded from the Avenue Church to St Leonard's Tower, led by town crier Cllr Ken Purchase. Other children were thrilled to receive early Easter eggs which were given out by those in the parade, among whose number was an Easter bunny. Ipplepen charity Animals in Distress brought in some of their resident bunnies and guinea pigs to highlight the plight of small homeless animals and raise funds for a new shelter until they can be found permanent homes.
