STAFF at Gatehouse Primary Academy, Dawlish, have thanked the community effort that has gone into home learning for its pupils.

Leila Naldrett, head of school, said: ‘We would like to thank everyone in the school community who has been working very hard in providing home learning that both matches the DfE’s requirements and is organised to support parent’s busy homes currently.

‘The children are also thoroughly enjoying the Zoom registrations and the Zoom live lessons.’

She continued: ‘Many families are struggling with tech to support learning at home and the local community have been amazing in their support with many donations.’

The Gatehouse PTA has a ‘Just Giving’ page to help support the school with its ICT needs, www.justgiving.com/campaign/ICTEquipment.

Leila praised staff and children for their actions during the latest lockown.

She said: ‘The children in school have shown fantastic resilience and an ability to adjust.

‘The school staff are once again enjoying their energy and willingness to learn. Well done to them all.

‘The school is impressed with the children’s attendance at our home learning ‘live’ sessions and the amount of home learning being returned to the school for review.

‘The school has been blown awayby the remarkable level of support that parents are providing at home and we would reward them all a virtual Headteachers’ award!

‘A huge well done to all our home learners, as well as their incredible parents/ carers.

‘Both schools have joined forces, Gatehouse and Westcliff, to complete a community wave.

‘It would be lovely to see as many of these in windows across Dawlish as possible.

‘In school’ children have completed a large display wave at the front of our school.

Gatehouse would also like to thank you everyone for all the overwhelming messages of positivity and thanks to the school.

Leila added: ‘All staff in school have all been working so hard, from our fabulous admin team, to our gifted teachers, to our amazing family support worker and our hugely dedicated SENCO, to our incredible teaching assistants and to our super kitchen staff, caretaker and cleaners and a reminder to all to please make time to have some fun, love and laugh, even with our current limited options.
