KINGSTEIGNTON is a step closer to getting a new primary school. Teignbridge Council has given the go-ahead to developers to start a building project, which includes plans for a 420-pupil school at Newcross.
The school is part of a package which includes playing fields, public open space and up to 150 homes – including 30 affordable ones – proposed by Sibelco, formerly WBB Minerals, on restored clay quarry land.
Funding and building of the school is under discussion with the government’s Education Funding Authority.0
Gary Stringer, a director with the company, said: ‘The site at Newcross provided local people with good jobs for many years. Now it’s becoming a place where many more will realise the dream of having their own home and building a future for their families.’
