It’s been 25 years since Trigger Happy TV burst on to our screens, transforming the hidden camera format with its surreal universe of characters and unforgettable pranks.

And now to celebrate a quarter-century of chaos, Dom Joly is bringing his most iconic characters and sketches to the stage when his national tour marking the show reaches Painton’s Palace Theatre next April.

Maureen McAllister, theatre director, said: “This will be Dom’s third visit to the Palace and we absolutely love his crazy humour. Maybe 25 years have passed but he is still 100% hilarious.”

The popular hidden cmaera/ practical comedy television series starred Joly and ran for three series on Channel 4 from 2000 to 2003. Joly made a name for himself as the sole star of the show, which he produced and directed with cameraman Sam Cadman.

Unlike other hidden camera shows many of the scenes in Trigger Happy TV did not revolve around trapping normal people into embarrassing and impossible situations with Joly making fun of himself rather than others. Many scenes made people stop and either laugh or simply wonder what was going on; the passers-by are never made aware of the fact that they are on television.

Fans to the stage show will experience beloved moments from the show, including The Giant Snail, The Traffic Warden, The Morris Dancer, The Scout, A Gang of Squirrels, and THAT Big Mobile Phone.

In addition, Dom will share behind-the-scenes stories and insights on how these unforgettable moments came to life. But the surprises don’t stop there – this is live theatre, and fans can expect the unexpected.

Dom said: “I played a handful of shows in the autumn that sold out. We were inundated with requests for more shows - so here they are."

The Palace Theatre date is Friday, April 30, 2027. Tickets can be booked at .https://www.palacetheatrepaignton.co.uk/shows/dom-joly-the-trigger-happy-tv-live-25th-anniversary-tour/
