Monochrome is defined as an image made in black and white or in varying hues of only one colour, and it’s also the title of the latest exhibition at the Paradiso arts centre in Bovey Tracey.
It’s well worth popping in to the gallery space to view a range of striking works by local artists including Ian Cox, Sarah Morris and Jeremy Diggle among others.
Gallery manager Jon Arnold said the Paradiso has also scored a bit of coup by having a huge woodland scene by Bovey Tracey artist Rosie Sanders on show.
’’Rosie’s a world-renowned artist,’ he said. ’We’re very fortunate to be able to show her work which normally exhibits in the London galleries and overseas.’
The exhibition comprises two dozen prints, photographs, lino cuts and engravings.
Jon explained: ’All the art on show is by local artists who we try and support, and it’s all for sale. We also have a fabulous choice of unframed prints and a great selection of gifts. ’
Meanwhile, work continues apace behind the gallery. The back wall of the new cafe area is now up, and it’s hoped the cafe will be open in the late spring. Beyond the cafe lies the space which will eventually become the new cinema and theatre.
Monochrome runs until Saturday, April 2, after which Jon will be busy proparing the next exhibition - The Five Elements - which will commence on April 7.
Jon said: ’They represent earth, air, fire, water and aether, which could be best described as "space". That could mean the heavens or the space in which we move.’
The Gallery winter opening times are Thursday and Friday:11am-4pm, and Saturday 11am-5pm.

=Accounts Assistant - an experienced bookkeeper to assist David Alexander, Finance Director.
=Commercial Director - to manage commercial policy, market research and sourcing for merchandising.
=IT Support Technician - to assist with PC support, software and hardware installation, maintenance, and upgrades.
