THE epic musical Chess visits Torquay’s Princess Theatre later this month courtesy of PGS Theatre Productions

With music by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus of ABBA fame, and lyrics by Tim Rice, Chess features a sweeping score that blends pop, rock, and classical influences.

Set during the Cold War era, it tells the gripping story of love and political intrigue through the lens of an international chess championship, where East and West collide on and off the board.

In a thrilling collaboration, PGS Theatre Productions will be joined by the Newton Abbot Orchestra, who will provide a full 40-piece live orchestra to bring this monumental score to life. This marks a rare opportunity to experience ChessS as it was meant to be heard — with the power and richness of a live symphonic ensemble.
