PARISHIONERS in one Dartmoor village have the chance to etch their names, and those of their family, into the very stone which is to make up the as yet unfinished community hall.

Widecombe Community Hall CIO are inviting persons to support the village's community hall by donating and in turn having their names engraved into the stone of what has been dubbed the 'Supporting Wall'.

A spokesman for Widecombe Community Hall CIO said: 'Create a lasting and tangible show of support for this new community building and join our "Supporting Wall".

'You are invited to have your name engraved on a granite stone, which will be built into our "Supporting Wall" in the new hall. Keep your family in Widecombe history for the long term!

'There is a suggested minimum donation of £40 per name, but we encourage you to be as generous as you are able in your offer.

'Stones will be the same size no matter the donation and placed at random.'

Widecombe Community Hall CIO, which is a registered charity, was formed in March of 2019 to progress the work of the Steering Group, by completing the design and build process, as well as taking on the eventual running, of the new community hall.

Charity trustees, of which there are eight, meet regularly to review plans, co-ordinate fundraising efforts and manage the project.
