The show, enjoyed by all, was full of locally grown produce, entertainment and, of course, plenty of cheese and onions as well as the usual Saturday market stalls.

A parade consisting of mayor and mayoress Cllr Mike and Lin Ryan, Teignbridge Council chairman Mike Hocking and his partner Cllr Carol Bunday, Newton Abbot MP Anne Marie Morris, town crier Cllr Ken Purchase, borough crier Evelyn Davies and their escorts, the portreeve Martin Davie and his escort, along with the cheese and pasty trolley left the town hall at 10.30am and marched through the town to Courtenay Street.

Cllr Hocking said: ‘It went very well and I thoroughly enjoyed it as chairman, supporting Newton Abbot and the mayor.’<
