DEVON’S fire service will open the doors of its headquarters near Exeter to the public this September for a day of family-friendly activities and fire safety demonstrations.

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service’s open day, taking place at The Knowle in Clyst St George from 10am on Sunday, September 6, will give visitors the chance to tour fire engines and specialist vehicles, meet firefighters and learn more about the work of the emergency service.

The event will also provide practical advice on staying safe at home, on the roads and in the countryside. Money raised during the day will support the Fire Fighters Charity, which helps serving and retired firefighters and their families across the UK.
