Tracey Vale Residential Home, Bovey Tracey, is benefiting from two new lightweight wheelchairs.
The donation was made possible thanks to the Harmer family.
After the death of Tracey Vale resident Henry Harmer, on May 22, his family asked people who knew him to give money to purchase the wheelchairs instead of buying flowers for his funeral.
'We asked the home what they needed and they said a new lightweight wheelchair would really help. My mother, Catherine, has one and we know how valuable they are,' said Stuart Harmer, Henry's son.
Catherine and Henry moved to the district in 1985 when they retired. They settled in Lustleigh but later moved to Bovey Tracey and Teignmouth.
The couple lived at Tracey Vale together for three years. Catherine still resides there.
In March this year they celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.
