FARMERS and smallholders are being warned to be on their guard after a sheep was attacked by a dog.
Coco is slowly recovering from her ordeal at a field in Bovey Tracey when she was bitten on the leg.
But it was touch and go whether she would survive after the incident.
Owner Robbie Donovan discovered seven-year-old Coco collapsed in the field.
She explained: 'She's one of four girls who are now in retirement and the field was meant to be a nice, safe place for them.
