BUCKFASTLEIGH residents discussed ways to engage their community – including a ‘Fast-Buck’ local currency – at a forum in the town hall last week.

The ‘engaging the community’ meeting replaced the regular monthly town council meeting, and brought the new town council and residents together to discuss issues in informal groups.

The groups looked at public transport; traffic flow direction; the threatened youth service; community gardening; and the viability of a local currency similar to the Totnes and Bristol Pounds.

The name ‘Fast-Buck’ was suggested on the night.
