THE first Dartmoor and Exmoor Low Carbon Festival, promoting low carbon living and business activities in and around the two national parks, is to take place from next Wednesday until October 13.The festival events will show people how to make their own contribution to a low carbon future.Next Friday, leading south west business and community leaders will be meeting for the Dartmoor and Exmoor Low Carbon Festival Summit at the Met Office in Exeter.They will be exploring and debating the challenges for national parks and the implications posed by climate change for the wider south west.There are more than 20 festival events planned during the week, 14 of them on Dartmoor.These include: Wednesday – Dartmoor Farms' Carbon Project Workshop for farmers (Higher Shapley Farm, Chagford 10.30am-2.30pm). Saturday, October 10 – Green Street Fair (Bovey Tracey town centre 1pm-5pm). Saturday and Sunday, October 10 and 11 – Dartmoor Green Living Open Weekend visiting inspirational eco homes and low carbon projects (Ashburton and Buckfastleigh 11am-1pm and 2pm-4pm); Climate Change – Medieval Style guided walk (Hound Tor 10.35am); Green Living by Sustain Dunsford visiting two private homes demonstrating their renewable energy installations (Dunsford numbers limited).
